Meet Carl Neimeyer
Hello! Thank you for visiting and learning about my campaign for County Council–District 5.
Let me tell you a bit of my story and why I am running:
WHERE I COME FROM
I grew up outside of Pittsburgh, a first-generation American on my mother’s side. We didn’t have much, but my parents worked hard to ensure I had access to a good education, not just academically but also in music and practical skills. After obtaining my degree in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, I received a commission in the United States Navy as a Civil Engineer Corps officer.
In the Navy, I truly learned the importance of integrity, the sacrifice of service, and the need for effective leadership. After serving in facilities and acquisitions, I deployed twice to Afghanistan with the Seabees of NMCB 5. My final assignment brought me to Anne Arundel County to work at the United States Naval Academy as a Senior Construction Manager during which time I earned my Professional Engineering license.
My wife and I fell in love with the area and knew this was where we wanted to raise our family. There were so many good educational opportunities for our children, recreational opportunities, and faith and civic organizations to engage with! Changing life trajectory out of the military, though, presented some challenges.
I knew from my experience on the government side of construction that there were many ways to make a profit in this business, many of them highly unethical. As a man of faith and descendent of union, immigrant, and blue-collar labor, I wanted to change that. In 2016, I took a huge leap of faith and started my own business right here in District 5.

WHY I'M RUNNING

Because I am so highly invested in the good of this district, I have been troubled by our representation on county council. In the last election, District 5 voted for the promise of reasonable, responsible, competent government that understood the need to invest in public goods– especially after years of underinvestment, particularly in teachers and police– while balancing competing community interests and exercising fiscal responsibility. Yet when any of those things came to pass in our county, it was largely in spite of our councilmember.
We need a councilmember who is committed to serving the best interests of our whole community beyond the dishonest demands of partisan politics. As a veteran and business owner, I understand that real leadership can only be successful when all stakeholders are sincerely valued and you share a vision beyond your personal perspective, interests, and power.
As councilman, I will put my real-world experience to work for YOU. I hope to earn the privilege of your vote to bring leadership, service, and integrity to represent District 5 on Anne Arundel County Council.
